Erika M. Huckestein is a Teaching Professor of History at Widener University. She holds a PhD in European History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2019), an MA in European History from the same institution (2014), and a BA in History from Carleton College (2010). Her research focuses on social/political movements, women's activism, anti-fascism, and pacifism, particularly analyzing British women’s organizations opposing fascism in the 1930s-1940s.
Her work emphasizes how women’s groups used anti-fascist rhetoric to legitimize political engagement and protect democratic rights. She has published in Contemporary European History and contributed to edited volumes on trans-Pacific gender studies. Huckestein is affiliated with the American Historical Association and the North American Conference on British Studies.
Academically, she prioritizes historical critical thinking in teaching, encouraging students to analyze information and construct arguments. She has received prestigious fellowships, including the Mellon-CES Dissertation Completion Fellowship (2018–2019) and the Werner Friederich Dissertation Fellowship (2015–2016).
