Dr. Erika Bravo is a Researcher at Texas A&M University, serving as a Research Partner Historian for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA). Her work focuses on historical research to identify missing U.S. service members from WWII to present-day conflicts. She conducts research on WWII losses in Europe and the Pacific, with expertise in archival digitization, data extraction, and translation.
Education: She holds an MA and PhD in History from Texas A&M University. Her doctoral research explored post-WWII ethnic German immigration to North America, particularly the role of identity in migration. She is currently working on a book manuscript about the Chortitza German settlement in Ukraine.
Teaching and Mentorship: At Texas A&M, she supervises undergraduate research, leads a history internship program, and teaches courses on immigration and military history. She also edits the Journal of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.
Research Contributions: Her published work includes a chapter in European Mennonites and the Holocaust (2020), co-published with the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Her research bridges military history, migration studies, and transnational perspectives on displacement.
