Erika Carrillo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at San José State University (SJSU), affiliated with the College of Social Sciences. She holds a dual Ph.D. in Anthropology and Gerontology from Purdue University (2022). Her research focuses on family caregiving, morality in care relationships, and community-based aging among Latino populations in San Francisco’s Mission District. She emphasizes applied anthropology, linking ethnographic fieldwork to broader discussions of health inequalities and aging.
