Erik Serrano is a Professor and Head of the Department of Construction Sciences at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering (LTH). He specializes in structural mechanics, timber engineering, and wood adhesive joints. His research aims to enhance the use of wood in construction, emphasizing sustainability and Sweden's forestry-based competitiveness. He is affiliated with the LTH Profile Area: Circular Building Sector.
His research focuses on experimental studies and computational methods to improve timber material understanding. Key projects include 'InnoTLT - Innovative Timber Construction with Tailored Laminated Timber' and 'Strength and fracture analysis of laminated wood-based structural elements.' He has secured grants from Södra Skogsägarnas Stiftelse, FORMAS, and Vinnova.
