Erik P. Bucy is the Marshall and Sharleen Formby Regents Professor of Strategic Communication in the College of Media and Communication at Texas Tech University. He holds a visiting senior fellowship at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and has held visiting appointments at Oxford, UCLA, University of Michigan, and Dartmouth College.

Bucy's research focuses on political communication through visual and nonverbal analysis, media biopolitics, social media dynamics, and normative media theories. His work examines how citizens process political information through mass media, emphasizing the cognitive and emotional impact of visual communication.
His recent publications reveal a trajectory in media participation effects, biopolitical communication, and visual framing of elections. His research methodology combines experimental studies, content analysis, and computational approaches to analyze media effects.

Bucy's work has been supported by grants from the National Association of Broadcasters, Shorenstein Center at Harvard, and C-SPAN Education Foundation. He also hosts the Civil Counterpoints TV discussion series (since 2017) and directs research initiatives at Texas Tech's College of Media and Communication.
