Erik Nook

Erik Nook is an Assistant Professor at Princeton University, leading the Logic of Emotion Lab. His research focuses on the interplay between language and emotion, integrating developmental, neuroscience, and translational approaches to understand emotional processes and their implications for psychological health. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and is a trained clinical psychologist.

Key research areas include emotion regulation strategies, neurodevelopmental bases of emotional perception, and the application of linguistic analysis to psychotherapy outcomes. His work bridges basic science and clinical practice, with particular attention to psychopathology and mental health interventions.

Recipient of the APS Rising Star award, Dr. Nook advises three graduate students and maintains an active research team. His lab explores topics such as emotion differentiation in youth, neural correlates of emotional experience, and the role of language in shaping psychological resilience.
