Erik Gustafsson

Erik Gustafsson is an Associate Professor in Biosciences at the University of Skövde, Sweden, where he is affiliated with the Department of Biosciences within the School of Bioscience. He maintains his office in Room G3312 and serves as a course coordinator for multiple undergraduate and graduate level courses in biosciences and biomedicine.

Dr. Gustafsson's research focuses on bacterial pathogenesis, particularly on Staphylococcus aureus virulence mechanisms and host-pathogen interactions. His work combines molecular microbiology with mathematical modeling approaches to understand regulatory networks governing bacterial virulence. More recently, he has expanded his research to include honeybee health and gut microbiome studies, investigating how different overwintering diets affect bees' gut flora and colony development.

His publication record demonstrates a strong focus on bacterial communication systems, particularly quorum sensing in Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. His research integrates experimental microbiology with computational modeling to unravel complex regulatory networks.
