Erik Fledderus

Dr. Erik Fledderus is a Lecturer at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, where he serves as Lector (Research Professor) for the Digital Business & Society research group. With over 25 years of professional experience spanning both public and private sectors, he brings extensive expertise in ICT, digitalization, and innovation to his academic role.

Dr. Fledderus earned his PhD in mathematical physics from the University of Twente in 1997 with a thesis entitled "Mathematical modeling in swirling flows: a Hamiltonian perspective." His academic foundation includes studies in applied mathematics at the same institution. Prior to his current position, he held significant roles including managing director at SURF and professor of Wireless Communication at Eindhoven University of Technology.

His research interests center on safeguarding the human dimension in technology across multiple domains. Key areas include the societal and workplace impacts of artificial intelligence and data science, the connection between educational institutions and small-to-medium businesses regarding digitalization challenges, and the broader digitization of cities, governments, and industries including automation and robotization.
