H.C.L. (Erik) Abbenhuis is a Professor and Managing Director of the Research Institute in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology. He holds a PhD from Utrecht University (1992), specializing in tantalum alkylidene chemistry under Prof. van Koten. After postdoctoral research at the University of Strasbourg and ETH Zurich (as a Royal Netherlands Academy fellow), he established his own research group focusing on molecular aspects of heterogeneous catalysis under Prof. van Santen. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly addressing energy and environmental challenges.
