Eric W. Shannon is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Legal Writing at St. John's University School of Law, where he has taught legal writing, client counseling, negotiation, and professional responsibility courses to J.D. and LL.M. students since 2018. He served as the Law School’s Dean of Students from 2020–2025 and was twice recognized with the university-wide St. John’s Values and Inclusion (VIP) award.

- B.S., Cornell University (summa cum laude, distinction in research, Merrill Presidential Scholar)
His scholarship focuses on legal education reform, professional identity formation, and the integration of mental health support in law school curricula. Recent publications address topics such as student wellbeing services, skill development beyond traditional journals, and online teaching strategies.

Prior to academia, Shannon practiced law in New York City, specializing in healthcare litigation and compliance, and engaged in pro bono work involving immigration, criminal justice reform, and capital punishment appeals.
