Eric Sevigny is a Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University. His research lies at the intersection of drugs, crime, and public policy, with a strong focus on sentencing, incarceration, and the measurement of drug-related societal issues.
His research interests include drug policy, sentencing practices, the measurement of drug problems, the collateral consequences of mass incarceration, and the effects of medical marijuana legislation on public safety outcomes such as drugged driving. His work is published in leading interdisciplinary journals including Criminology and Public Policy, International Journal of Drug Policy, Journal of Quantitative Criminology, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and Social Indicators Research.
Dr. Sevigny is currently supported by research funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy, focusing on the measurement of drug-related problems. He advises graduate students and contributes to policy-relevant scholarship in criminal justice and public policy.
He received his Ph.D. in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006.
He is actively engaged in research and academic service, with no indication of emeritus or retired status.
