Dr. Eric Schuck is a Professor of Economics at Linfield College since 2006. He holds a B.A. from Pacific Lutheran University, an M.A. from the University of Montana, and a Ph.D. from Washington State University. His research focuses on natural resource economics, environmental economics, and agricultural economics, with an emphasis on water use during droughts and controlling agricultural runoff. He has conducted extensive international research, including Fulbright fellowships in South Africa and Lebanon, and led study-abroad programs to South Africa, France, Samoa, and French Polynesia. Beyond academia, Dr. Schuck serves as a Captain in the United States Naval Reserve, having deployed to the Middle East twice and graduating from the Naval War College.
His academic interests span interdisciplinary approaches to water resource management, integrating economic principles with environmental sustainability. Key themes in his work include conjunctive water use systems, irrigation efficiency, and policy interventions to mitigate agricultural runoff. His publications analyze case studies from regions like the Snake River Basin, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighting economic impacts of water management strategies on farms and ecosystems.
Dr. Schuck’s career bridges academic research and real-world applications, addressing global challenges in resource economics through fieldwork, policy analysis, and international collaboration. His military service underscores a commitment to public service alongside his scholarly contributions.
