Eric Rowell

Eric Rowell is a Professor of Mathematics at Texas A&M University, affiliated with the College of Science. His research focuses on algebra, topology, and their applications to quantum computing, particularly in topological quantum computation and braid group representations. He leads a collaborative NSF-funded project on topological quantum computing, involving researchers from LSU, MIT, and UC Santa Barbara.

His work bridges pure mathematics with quantum technologies, addressing foundational questions in modular categories, fusion systems, and topological phases of matter. Rowell’s contributions include classification of modular categories, braid group representations, and applications of categorical algebra to quantum information theory.
