David Penneys

David Penneys is a Professor of Mathematics at The Ohio State University, specializing in Operator Algebras, Quantum Algebra, and Category Theory. He holds a PhD from UC Berkeley (2012) and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Toronto and UCLA. His research focuses on quantum symmetries, tensor categories, and topological phases of matter, with applications to mathematical physics and quantum information theory.

He has advised numerous graduate students and postdocs, including Giovanni Ferrer, David Green, and Quan Chen, and collaborates on projects like the book Unitary Quantum Symmetries Lite with Giovanni Ferrer and Kyle Kawagoe.
