Eric Recktenwald is an Associate Professor of Biology and Chair of the Department of Natural and Applied Science at Alvernia University's College of Innovation, Discovery and Enterprise. He holds a Ph.D. in Biology from Temple University and teaches courses in Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, and the Physician Associate Program. Dr. Recktenwald oversees the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program and utilizes the Virtual Dissection Lab with Anatomage tables for innovative teaching.
Research Interests: His work focuses on neuroscience and animal behavior, particularly frog models for human biology. He integrates research into undergraduate education, mentoring students in hands-on projects that have resulted in two co-authored publications. His approach emphasizes experiential learning and interdisciplinary collaboration in medical sciences.
Leadership and Facilities: As department chair, Dr. Recktenwald fosters a collaborative academic environment and manages cutting-edge resources like the Anatomage digital dissection tables. He collaborates with the Physician Associate Program to develop new curricula and promotes servant leadership principles in faculty-student relationships.
