Eric Popjes, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine. He serves as Associate Program Director for the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and is affiliated with the Penn State Heart and Vascular Institute.
- Education: MD from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons (1995); Fellowship in Cardiology at University of Pennsylvania (2002); Residency in Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital (1998); BS in Biology from Rutgers College (1991) with Highest Honors and Phi Beta Kappa.
His research focuses on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, heart transplantation, and heart failure, with recent work on proteomic analysis of peripartum cardiomyopathy and advanced therapies for heart failure. He has contributed to 14 research outputs since 2003, including high-impact articles in Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology and Current Cardiology Reports.
He specializes in echocardiography, mechanical circulatory support, and cardiac transplantation, providing clinical care at the Penn State Heart and Vascular Institute.
