Sounok Sen, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as Medical Director of Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support for the Heart Failure Program, and Co-Director of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Program within the Cardiomyopathy & Inherited Cardiovascular Disease Program. His clinical expertise spans advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support devices. Dr. Sen completed his MD at Yale School of Medicine (2013), BEngSci in Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania (2007), and advanced training including a cardiovascular fellowship at Duke University (2020). His research focuses on optimizing access to lifesaving therapies for heart failure patients, including strategies to expand donor heart availability. Recent work explores deep learning applications for diagnosing hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart failure using ECG and clinical notes, as well as evaluating treatment impacts on disease markers. He has published extensively on topics ranging from cardiac transplant rejection mechanisms to clinical guidelines for cardiogenic shock management. Dr. Sen maintains an active role in translational research and multidisciplinary patient care innovation.
