Dr. Eric Pedersen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Concordia University, where he leads the Pedersen Quantitative Fisheries Ecology Lab. His research focuses on quantitative ecology, fisheries dynamics, marine and aquatic community ecology, ecosystem change, movement ecology, and biostatistical methodologies. He teaches undergraduate courses including BIOL 226 (Biodiversity and Ecology) and BIOL 322 (Biostatistics).
His work examines rapid ecological changes in marine systems, predator-prey relationships under climate stressors, and develops statistical models for fisheries management. Research themes include spatial population dynamics, ecosystem recovery after collapse, and impacts of anthropogenic changes on aquatic habitats.
Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on marine ecosystem resilience, fisheries assessment techniques, and spatial modeling approaches, with applications across diverse systems from Northwest Atlantic shellfish to tropical Andean lakes.
