Eric Lybeck

Dr. Eric Lybeck is a Lecturer & Presidential Fellow at the Manchester Institute of Education, University of Manchester. His research synthesizes American neopragmatism, Scottish civics, and Italian social generativity under the framework of Civic Arts and Sciences. Notably, he founded the open-access journal Civic Sociology (UC Press) and won the 2018 Bennett Prospect Policy Prize for rethinking the knowledge economy's geographic distribution.

Education:

• BA in Scandinavian Religions from Rutgers University (2003)

Research Interests: Historical sociology of universities, civic education, creative placemaking, and processual theory. His books include The University Revolution (2021) and Norbert Elias and the Sociology of Education (2019).
