Ida Marie Lybecker Korning serves as a PhD Fellow at Aalborg University's Department of Politics and Society within The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. Her research bridges environmental history, gender studies, and engineering education policy.
Her research focuses on gendered narratives in Scandinavian anti-nuclear movements (1945-1991), material ecofeminism in peace camps, and continuing education frameworks for professional engineers. Key themes include micro-credentials development, post-COVID educational adaptations, and sustainable development strategies aligned with UN SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 13 (Climate Action).
Current research examines how historical gender constructs shaped Cold War peace activism and contemporary engineering education reforms. Her methodological approach combines archival analysis with Q methodology for stakeholder perspectives.
She leads the active PhD project Provocative housewives and promiscuous peace doves: The use of gendered history in Scandinavian antinuclear movements 1945-1991 (2023-2026), analyzing environmental materiality in peace camps. Recent activities include conference presentations at NUCSTRAT Retreat (2025) and Nordjysk Arbejderhistoriefestival (2025).
Her professional network spans Scandinavian universities, European engineering education associations (SEFI), and sustainability research consortia. Fingerprint analysis indicates strong connections to lifelong education (90%), engineering education (60%), and Mexican university collaborations (45%).
