LeMay’s research and creative work centers on creative nonfiction, the essay form, food writing, and experimental literary genres. He explores themes of identity, memory, metaphor, and the philosophical dimensions of everyday life. His writing often blends personal reflection with cultural critique, particularly in works like Immortal Milk: Adventures in Cheese and CrossFit Nation.
His recent publications reflect a broad engagement with the essay as a form, ranging from personal narratives like "On Being a Parent Amid This Latest Anti-Tran Violence" to meta-critical works such as "Essays on the Essay and Other Essays." Collectively, his writings demonstrate a deep interest in the nature of language, self-representation, and cultural phenomena. He frequently examines how mundane experiences—eating, parenting, memory—can be elevated into profound literary explorations.
LeMay is also a contributing host on the New Books Network, where he interviews authors across genres, further establishing his role in contemporary literary discourse.
