Amy Hassinger is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Illinois. She specializes in creative writing, fiction, and experimental literary forms. Her work explores themes such as environmental writing, family dynamics, and societal critique.
Education: B.A. (summa cum laude) in English/Creative Writing from Barnard College, Columbia University; M.F.A. from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop.
Teaching focuses on Fiction Workshops, Creative Nonfiction, and Environmental Writing. Recent publications include the novels After the Dam (2016), The Priest’s Madonna (2006), and Nina: Adolescence (2004), alongside essays in The New York Times.
