Juhnke’s work bridges historical analysis with political discourse, particularly examining populist rhetoric in medical charlatanism. He has led six European trips since 2003, including a 2023 journey to London, Paris, Rome, and Normandy Beach, emphasizing experiential learning. His 2002 book, Quacks & Crusaders, explores intersections of pseudoscience and political messaging.
Beyond teaching, Juhnke contributes to the BCU History Club, incorporating films like 42 and JoJo Rabbit to engage students in historical narratives. The department maintains a dynamic structure with one other full-time professor, three cross-departmental instructors, and adjuncts, offering tracks for aspiring teachers, public historians, and law school candidates.
