Janet Rohmiller serves as a Professor at Briar Cliff University, teaching elementary and special education courses while supervising student teachers. With 16 years of K-12 teaching experience and 13 years in district administration, she brings extensive practical expertise to educator preparation.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota
- Master's in Learning Disabilities (with secondary emphasis in Behavior Disorders)
- Master's in Administration from the University of Northern Iowa
Rohmiller specializes in mild and moderate disabilities, behavioral disorders, and literacy instruction. Her work focuses on inclusive co-teaching models, evidence-based reading interventions for grades 3-8, and restructuring K-12 behavior programs using the SDI Framework she helped implement statewide.
She currently supervises student teachers and has restructured Briar Cliff's special education and elementary literacy programs. Previously as Sioux City's assistant director of learning supports, she developed the district's special education coaching model and mentored new teachers. Rohmiller remains active on her seventh state accreditation team and emphasizes servant leadership in developing future educators.
