Eric Clark Jackson, an Adjunct Professor of Art at St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM), holds a dual background in studio art and psychology from his undergraduate ('04) and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT '10) degrees at the institution. His studio practice merges ecological themes, handmade traditions, and wildlife illustration with fiber arts, focusing on the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Jackson employs research-driven, choice-based pedagogy to empower student autonomy in media selection and conceptual development.
He collaborates with regional and national conservation organizations, including the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Alliance for the Chesapeake, and has secured grants from the Maryland State Arts Council, Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, and local arts councils. His work is housed in the permanent collections of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Museum of Eastern Shore Culture, and Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center.
Living in Leonardtown for 40 years, Jackson’s art is deeply rooted in the Chesapeake Bay region, where he explores wildlife and watershed landscapes through meticulous, process-oriented techniques.
