Stephen Mainzer is an Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at the College of Arts & Architecture at The Pennsylvania State University. As a social scientist and designer, he explores how coupled environmental and political sentiments shape human-place relationships, particularly in Pennsylvania and Chesapeake Bay watershed contexts.
His teaching focuses on introductory design studio pedagogy, emphasizing process, culture, and communication within Penn State's nationally recognized landscape architecture program. His research integrates a dual-title PhD in Architecture and Human Dimensions of Natural Resources with six years of professional practice experience.
