Eric Grynaviski is an Associate Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at George Washington University. His work focuses on international security, U.S. foreign policy, and ethical dimensions of global politics. He holds a Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
Research interests include counterfactual theories of causation in foreign policy decision-making, mechanisms of social integration in global society, and the role of public reason in international ethics. His books Constructive Illusions and America's Middlemen have received major awards from the American Political Science Association and International Studies Association.
His recent book The Price of Empire examines economic foundations of early U.S. Pacific imperialism. Articles published in International Organization, European Journal of International Relations, and other leading journals address themes from ancient Hellenistic arbitration systems to modern Middle East diplomacy.
