Eric Dahlin

Eric Dahlin serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Brigham Young University's College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences, where his research critically examines the social dimensions of technological innovation and artificial intelligence.

His work challenges individualistic narratives of innovation success by investigating how social and cultural contexts determine technological adoption and impact. Current projects include a book analyzing AI's mediation of organizational structures and outcomes using survey data from 1,000 U.S. employees; development of community-centered design methodologies that prioritize diverse user needs and shift design control to end-users; creation of a GPT-based tool for non-technical designers to evaluate social impacts; and longitudinal research on workforce displacement due to AI implementation.
