Eric Chyn is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin's College of Liberal Arts. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan in 2016, where his dissertation received the Dorothy S. Thomas Award and the HCEO Dissertation Prize. His research focuses on labor economics, public economics, and the long-term impacts of government policies on children, using applied microeconomic methods.
Dr. Chyn's work examines housing, education, and welfare programs, with findings published in leading journals like the American Economic Review and Journal of Political Economy. His research has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlantic.
He has secured significant external funding, including:
- NSF grant ($394,366) for neighborhood intervention studies (2020-2023)
- Innovations for Poverty Action grant ($344,000) for labor supply research in Malawi
