Eric Cavallero is a Professor of Philosophy at Southern Connecticut State University, where he has taught since 2006. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Yale University and previously taught at Yale University and the University of Arizona. He has held postdoctoral fellowships at Tulane University and Harvard University’s Program in Ethics and Health. His research spans political philosophy, immigration ethics, biomedical ethics, and global justice, with recent interests in metaphysics, consciousness studies, and philosophical psychology.
Educationally, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, followed by a doctorate from Yale. His work explores topics such as the moral limits of political sovereignty, international property regimes, refugee ethics, and federative global democracy. He serves as associate editor of Metaphilosophy and on the editorial board of the Journal of Social Philosophy.
His publications include influential articles in journals like Philosophical Studies, Journal of Political Philosophy, and Politics, Philosophy & Economics. His research trends emphasize global justice frameworks, ethical dimensions of immigration policies, and theoretical foundations of state duties toward asylum seekers. Cavallero’s contributions address intersections between metaphysics and applied ethics, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach.
He has held editorial and reviewing roles for academic journals, contributing to scholarly discourse. Beyond academia, he practices Shinshin-Toitsu Aikido and is a science-fiction enthusiast.
