Eric A. Stach is an Associate Professor of Materials Engineering at Purdue University's College of Engineering. Prior to joining Purdue in 2005, he held positions at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), including Program Leader in the Metals Program (2003) and Materials Staff Scientist at the National Center for Electron Microscopy.

His research focuses on utilizing transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to study nanomaterials under stimuli like temperature, stress, and electrical current. Key areas include in-situ TEM for nanotube/nanowire growth, catalytic activity, chemical vapor deposition, and reliability of nanoscale systems.
Purdue's new in-situ TEM facility (operational Summer 2005) enables nanomaterial synthesis in gaseous environments with atomic-scale imaging, expanding his work on nanomaterials and thin films.
