Marcel A. Verheijen

Marcel A. Verheijen is a part-time Assistant Professor in the Plasma & Materials Processing group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and a TEM Application Specialist at Philips Innovation Labs on the Eindhoven High Tech Campus. His roles combine academic research with industrial materials characterization.

Education:

• MSc in Chemistry from Radboud University Nijmegen
• PhD in Chemistry (1995) under Prof. Piet Bennema, focusing on fullerene crystal growth and microscopy.

Research Interests:

• High-resolution TEM characterization of multi-layer systems, nanowires, and ALD-deposited nanoparticles.
• Materials science applications in semiconductor devices, solar cells, and nanomaterials.
• Failure analysis and yield improvement in industrial materials systems at Philips.

Advising & Collaborations:

• Co-promotor (doctoral advisor) for multiple PhD students.
• Active collaborations in nanotechnology, thin-film solar cells (via Solliance), and electron microscopy infrastructure (NEMI).

Labs & Infrastructure:

• Operates a high-end TEM microscope acquired through Solliance.
• Affiliated with the Netherlands Electron Microscopy Infrastructure (NEMI).
