Associate Professor Enrique Blanco Gonzalez holds a position at the University of Agder's Department of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on molecular ecology and conservation genetics of marine species, particularly addressing anthropogenic impacts like aquaculture and climate change. He has expertise in reproductive strategies of marine organisms and the genetic consequences of stock enhancement programs.
Education:
- Ph.D. Bioresource Science (Fish Genetics), Hiroshima University, Japan (2009)
- M.Sc. Bioresource Science & Technology (Fish Genetics), Hiroshima University (2006)
- DEA Zoology (equivalent to M.Sc.), University of Cádiz, Spain (2004)
- B.Sc. Marine Science, University of Cádiz (2000)
Research Interests: His work examines genetic diversity dynamics in marine populations, effects of aquaculture practices (e.g., wrasse use in salmon farms), and adaptive responses to environmental changes. Recent studies include stakeholder perceptions of cod restoration in Norwegian fjords and genetic impacts of fish translocations.
Grants & Projects: Involved in projects like development of marine sampling devices and invasive species monitoring in UNESCO Magma Geopark.
