معرفی
Dr Shannon Loughnan is a researcher with expertise in molecular biology and aquaculture. Her work focuses on sustainable aquaculture production, fish ecology, and the genetic variation of marine species like blacklip abalone, Murray cod, barramundi, and yellowtail kingfish. She has been affiliated with Deakin University and the Department of Primary Industries in Victoria, Australia.
Her research interests include
- Quantitative and molecular genetics in aquaculture species
- Conservation and sustainable breeding programs
- Tropical and freshwater fish ecology in Latin America
- Habitat structure and species correlation
- Cichlidae family research
Her publications span refereed journals, industry workshops, and international magazines, covering topics like microsatellite marker development, QTL analysis for growth traits, and tropical fish habitats in the Amazon and Nicaragua. She has collaborated with researchers such as Prof L Beheregaray and Dr N Robinson, with a focus on genetic techniques to improve aquaculture practices.
Dr Loughnan has explored fish identification and ecology in Latin America, linking species to habitat structures. Her work integrates field research, such as the ornamental fish industry, with lab-based molecular genetics to advance sustainable aquaculture and conservation efforts.
