Enno Masurel

Enno Masurel is Full Professor in Sustainable Entrepreneurship at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam's School of Business and Economics, Department of Management and Organisation. He serves as Director-Founder of the Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE@VU) and bridges academia-private sector collaboration through long-term relationship building.

His research centers on entrepreneurship and SMEs with specialized focus on innovation, sustainable business models, and firm lifecycle dynamics. Significant international work includes supervising PhDs and training lecturers across Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Zambia, plus recent Ukraine-focused studies on post-war entrepreneurship. Current projects examine food waste management in Dutch restaurants, mobile money adoption in Kenya, and female entrepreneurial performance.

His publication trends reveal strong emphasis on sustainable development in conflict zones (Ukraine) and emerging economies (Africa), with empirical methodologies applied to real-world SME challenges. Recent outputs demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches combining economic, environmental, and social perspectives.

His leadership spans the Center for Entrepreneurship (founded 2017), ACE partnership management team (since 2008), and Acting Academic Director role (2014-2017), driving institutional collaboration between Amsterdam's academic institutions.
