Erin Litzow is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas, affiliated with the School of Economic, Political, and Policy Sciences. She holds a PhD in Food & Resource Economics (2024) from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Environmental Management (2017) from Duke University, and a BSFS in International Political Economy (2011) from Georgetown University. She also serves as an affiliate of the Duke Energy Access Project and an International Associate with Environment for Development (EfD) - Chile.
- Research Focus: Environmental economics, development economics, and energy economics with policy applications
- Key Geographic Areas: Bhutan, Ghana, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mexico, Kenya, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia
Her research examines: (1) costs of environmental degradation and their unequal distribution across gender and other dimensions, and (2) adoption/impacts of technologies mitigating environmental risks. Recent publications analyze gender disparities in labor market resilience, systematic reviews of energy use impacts in developing countries, rural electrification benefits in Bhutan, and environmental health economics in low-income contexts.
