Enda McVeigh

Enda McVeigh is an Associate Professor and Consultant Sub-Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health within the Medical Sciences Division. Appointed Associate Professor in 2014, he has held significant leadership roles including Director of the Sub-Specialist training program in Reproductive Medicine (1999-2012) and Medical Director of the Oxford Fertility Unit (1999-2012).

His educational background includes undergraduate studies at Queen's University Belfast followed by MRCOG qualification. His clinical and academic journey led him to Imperial College London's Reproductive Medicine Team before joining Oxford in 1997 as a Sub-Specialist trainee.

McVeigh's research spans Reproductive Medicine and Endometriosis, with current focus on Ovarian tissue cryopreservation for pre-pubertal and adolescent girls and supporting Endometriosis research led by Christian Becker. His work bridges clinical practice and academic research, evidenced by his role in developing the successful MSc course in Reproductive Medicine with Stephen Kennedy.

Analysis of his publications reveals consistent focus on improving fertility treatment outcomes, embryo development assessment, and specialized care for cancer patients requiring fertility preservation. His research demonstrates strong clinical applicability with emphasis on practical improvements in IVF procedures and patient care.

Professional activities include service on the HFEA Appeal Committee (2009-2012) and international work with USAID/WHO in Ukraine and Russia (1997-2000). He was a founding partner of the Reproductive Partnership, now the UK's largest IVF clinic network, and developed Oxford's Endometriosis surgical service into a national referral center through collaboration with Leuven University.

McVeigh maintains active clinical and academic roles with ongoing research contributions, particularly in advancing care for young patients requiring fertility preservation and improving endometriosis treatment protocols.
