Dr. Emun Abdu is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She serves as Medical Director and Chief of Neurosurgery at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas through a joint affiliation, specializing in complex cranial and endovascular procedures such as aneurysm clipping/coiling, arteriovenous malformation (AVM) resection, cerebral bypass for moyamoya disease, and endovascular stroke rescue. Her clinical expertise also includes brain/spine tumor management, degenerative spine conditions, and neurotrauma care.
Dr. Abdu has pioneered comprehensive stroke programs across U.S. health systems and advises neurosurgical centers internationally in sub-Saharan Africa and the Gulf region. Her work focuses on scalable neurovascular infrastructure, specialist training pathways, and public health initiatives for prevention and early detection. She is developing frameworks for high-impact local interventions and regional medical tourism pathways for complex cases requiring advanced technology in low-resource settings.
