Dr. Daniel Cooke is a Professor in Residence of Neuroendovascular Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), within the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. He specializes in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, vascular malignancies of the central nervous system, arteriovenous malformations (AVM), arteriovenous fistula (AVF), and aneurysms of the brain and spine. He earned his MD from Emory University and completed residencies and fellowships at the University of Washington and UCSF. His research focuses on endovascular techniques, including biopsy and chemoinfusion, to study neurovascular pathologies like aneurysms and AVMs. He leads the Vascular Anomalies & Stroke Computation Lab and collaborates with the Birthmarks & Vascular Anomalies Center.
His articles emphasize cutting-edge interventions, robotic neurointervention, and precision imaging for brain metastases. Awards include the 2009 Neuroradiology Research Award and 2008 Goldberg International Grant. His work spans clinical advancements in stroke treatment, pediatric neurointerventional care, and translational research linking molecular events to vascular diseases.
