Emre Turer

Emre Turer, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, affiliated with the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. He specializes in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease. His research focuses on identifying genes involved in maintaining intestinal homeostasis and understanding mechanisms underlying intestinal inflammation. He completed his medical and doctoral degrees at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, followed by residency and fellowship at UT Southwestern through the Physician-Scientist Training Program.

In 2020, he was awarded the Lancaster Family Chair of Gastroenterology.
