Emmanuel Droit

Prof. Dr. Emmanuel Droit is a historian specializing in contemporary international relations and the history of education. Since September 2017, he has served as Professor of Contemporary History of International Relations at Sciences Po Strasbourg. In the summer semester of 2021, he held the European Visiting Professorship at the Cluster for European Studies, Saarland University.

Education:

• Studied history, philosophy, and literature at Nancy, Göttingen, Paris I, and Technical University of Berlin.
• PhD thesis: "Forward to the New Humanity? Socialist Education in the GDR, 1949–1989" (completed prior to 2017).

Research Interests: His work focuses on the intersection of political ideologies, educational systems, and transnational historical developments, particularly in 20th-century Europe. His expertise extends to the analysis of socialist education models and their impact on societal structures.

Affiliations: Sciences Po Strasbourg (permanent) and Saarland University's Cluster for European Studies (2021 visiting role).
