Emmanuel Appiah-Brempong

Emmanuel Appiah-Brempong serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health Promotion and Disability Studies at the School of Public Health, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. With a Ph.D. in Public Health, he functions as both a researcher and international development consultant specializing in health promotion and disease prevention across African contexts.

His doctoral education forms the foundation for his research expertise, with scholarly focus spanning non-communicable disease prevention, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) interventions, social and behaviour change communication, health behaviour modeling, health impact assessment, and mental health promotion. He demonstrates particular methodological strength in cluster-randomized controlled trials for intervention research, often addressing vulnerabilities in Ghanaian and Sub-Saharan African populations.

Analysis of his 50+ peer-reviewed publications reveals dominant thematic trends in occupational health hazards among healthcare workers (including needlestick injuries, workplace violence, and musculoskeletal disorders), epidemic preparedness community engagement strategies, and hygiene behavior change interventions across school and clinical settings. His recent work increasingly incorporates cross-sectional epidemiological designs with strong contextual grounding in Ghanaian healthcare systems.
