Emmanuel Andre is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Transplantation at KU Leuven’s Faculty of Medicine. He is affiliated with the Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology (UZ Herestraat 49, Leuven) and serves as a member of the Leuven One Health Institute. His research focuses on microbiology, tuberculosis, One Health, SARS-CoV-2, and global health, with emphasis on antimicrobial resistance, diagnostic optimization, and infectious disease surveillance.
Key projects include AI-driven antibacterial design, NTM therapy validation, and outbreak data management using genomics and epidemiology. He leads or co-leads multiple projects targeting tuberculosis in Cameroon, antimicrobial resistance in West Africa, and environmental sampling for enteric virus monitoring.
Publications span 2024–2025, covering topics like fracture-related infections, Mycobacterium chelonae skin infections, and influenza screening. He actively contributes to councils for the Faculty of Medicine and Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Transplantation.
Teaching involves advanced microbiology courses and pandemic preparedness modules. His work integrates clinical, environmental, and computational approaches to address global health challenges.
