Her work examines grassroots activism through interdisciplinary lenses connecting social justice to ecological concerns.
Her educational background includes an MS in Geography, complemented by hands-on experience as an organic farmer and community gardener across Wisconsin and New England, which informs her embodied approach to historical research.
Dr. Schroeder's core research explores:
- Women's environmental activism in North America (1960s-1980s)
- Ecofeminist theory and practice
- Technoscientific critique in social movements
- Racial and gender dimensions of environmental justice
- Ecological domesticity as cultural framework
- Transnational feminist science and technology studies
Her forthcoming book "Making Home, Making Earth: Women’s Environmental Activism and the Politics of Planetary Care in late 20th c. North America" analyzes how women activists reimagined homes as ecological spaces while critiquing how such frameworks often reinforced white middle-class heteronormative practices. Her scholarship has appeared in Environmental History and public platforms like Environmental History Now, demonstrating commitment to both academic rigor and public engagement.
