Her educational background includes a PhD in Philosophy and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Philosophy and French, both from the University of Melbourne. She previously served as Research Fellow at The Australia Institute (2005-2007).
Rush specializes in three interconnected research domains: professional ethics with emphasis on social work and human services; applied ethics including nationally significant work on children's sexualization and creative industries ethics; and environmental ethics. Her approach integrates philosophical rigor with practical applications across sectors.
Her recent publications demonstrate strong focus on ethical challenges in rural mental health services, academic labor conditions, and historical reckoning in creative industries. The research shows increasing collaboration with health practitioners and movement toward systemic analysis of ethical dilemmas in unequal contexts.
