Emma Jenkins is Professor of Archaeology and Director of the Institute for Modelling Socio-Environmental Transitions at Bournemouth University. Her research investigates how past societies interacted with environments, responded to climate change, and transitioned from hunter-gatherer to agricultural lifestyles in Southwest Asia. She employs phytolith analysis and ethnographic studies to reconstruct ancient landscapes.
With a PhD from Cambridge, Jenkins leads field projects in Jordan and Turkey. Her work examines Neolithic impacts on biodiversity, sustainable water management, and settlement patterns. Current initiatives include developing transdisciplinary approaches to sustainability challenges through long-term socio-environmental modeling and community-based rewilding projects.
