Emma Braaten

Emma Braaten serves as Director of Digital Learning at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, NC State University. With 23 years of K-12 experience, she has held roles including Chief Technology Officer in Chatham County Schools (NC), Digital Learning Specialist with NCDPI, School Librarian, and Classroom Teacher. Her work focuses on leveraging existing and emerging technologies – especially AI – to enhance teaching and learning accessibility for all students.

Her research emphasizes technology integration in instructional practices, content standards implementation, and stakeholder collaboration to drive educational innovation. Current initiatives include AI in K-12 education through projects like the AI with the FI: AI in K-12 White Paper and leadership within the Institute's AI-focused teams.
