Emma Berry

Dr. Emma Berry is a Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), specializing in Clinical Health Psychology. She earned her PhD in 2018, focusing on psychological interventions for individuals with Type 2 diabetes and their partners. Her research explores psychological, social, and environmental factors influencing adjustment to chronic health conditions like diabetes and stroke. Current projects include investigating social media’s impact on mental health in young people with Type 1 diabetes and developing emotional support resources for families affected by diabetes. She also applies behavioral change models to public health issues such as plastic waste and environmental sustainability. Berry is an advocate for using comics and illustrations as health communication tools, leading co-design projects to enhance accessibility.

Teaching responsibilities include modules in Health and Clinical Health Psychology, supervising MSc and PhD students, and coordinating courses like the MSc Clinical Health Psychology and BSc Psychology Level 3. She has received awards such as the QUB Green Award (2020) and the STAR Scheme Performance Award (2022).

Research Projects: Active involvement in initiatives like Future Island-Island (food/water circularity) and ImPACT Stroke (e-health interventions for stroke survivors). Collaborative efforts span stroke rehabilitation, diabetes management, and antimicrobial resistance awareness.
