Dr Emma Barrowcliffe is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University, specializing in Forensic Psychology. She has been teaching at the university since 2017.
Education:
- MSc and PhD in Forensic Psychology, University of Kent
- BSc in Psychology, University of Sunderland and Valdosta State University, Georgia, USA
Research Interests: Dr Barrowcliffe's research primarily focuses on deliberate firesetting behavior, including its prevalence and characteristics. She also explores the application of virtual reality technology in assessing fire interest, as demonstrated in a joint project with the University of Kent and the NHS.

Professional Activities: With extensive experience in mental health hospitals, youth work, pupil referral units, and as a manager for the Probation Service, Dr Barrowcliffe is also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. She delivers specialist training to Fire and Rescue Services to improve understanding and prevention of deliberate firesetting behaviour.
