Emma Atherton is a Lecturer in Sociology at Charles Sturt University (CSU), specializing in feminist theory, queer studies, and intersectional DEI education. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from MIT (2015) and a BA (Hons) in Philosophy from the University of Melbourne (year unspecified). Her research bridges philosophy, science/technology studies, and feminist/queer theory, focusing on topics like fat studies, DEI training, and skills-based pedagogy in regional universities.
Key research interests include gender justice, sexual agency, and the moral dimensions of cultural practices. Her 2021 article Moralizing hunger critiques diet culture's fatphobic rhetoric, while recent work explores queer sex education and DEI strategies amid societal backlash.
